Police are appealing for help from the public after a woman required surgery for facial injuries suffered in what is believed to be a road-rage assault in Campbelltown at the weekend.
Police have been told a 31-year-old woman had been driving through Campbelltown between 5.45pm and 5.55pm last Saturday (29 July 2023), when she stopped at the intersection of Blaxland Road and Campbelltown Road.
The woman has told police after she sounded her horn at a black Mitsubishi sedan in front of her, the driver got out of his car and punched her in the face.
The man then attempted to drag her from the vehicle before she was able to drive away, seeking medical assistance at Campbelltown Hospital.
The woman has since been transferred to Liverpool Hospital where she’s undergone surgery for multiple facial fractures.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident and have released a description of a man who may be able to assist investigators.
The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 182cm tall, of large build with hair in a top bun and a tattoo on his left arm
At the time he was wearing a white shirt and shorts.
Police believe there would have been motorists who witnessed the incident, or who would have dash cam relevant to the investigation. They are asking anyone with information to contact Campbelltown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
