Police are appealing for public assistance to locate Shane Ward as part of this year’s ‘Answers Still Matter’ Missing Persons Week 2026.
Shane Ward, aged 22, was last seen at in the Tuggerah area about 7pm on Tuesday 10 September 2024.
When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Police and family hold serious concerns for his welfare.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of thin build with brown/red hair and a beard.
Shane was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and possibly wearing a nose ring.
He could be driving a blue Mitsubishi Lancer sedan with NSW registration CN04WK.
Missing Persons Week is an annual national campaign to raise awareness of the issues and impacts surrounding missing persons and runs between Sunday 2 August and Saturday 8 August 2026.
This year’s ‘Answers Still Matter’ campaign highlights the unwavering commitment of investigators to uncovering the truth for families seeking closure and communities wanting clarity.
Detective Inspector Paul Fenwick, Missing Persons Registry said Shane’s family deserves answers.
“Shane has now been missing for almost two years, and both police and his family hold serious concerns for his welfare. We are appealing to anyone who may have seen him or his vehicle to contact us immediately,” Det Insp Fenwick said.
“Someone in the community may have information that can help us understand Shane’s movements on the night he disappeared. Even a small detail could be crucial to progressing this investigation.
“The Answers Still Matter campaign reflects exactly why we continue to revisit and renew appeals like this. For Shane’s loved ones, answers still matter, and we remain committed to uncovering the truth about what happened to him.”
