Today I approved 651 research grants as recommended by the Australian Research Council (ARC) for funding through the Discovery Projects scheme and the Linkage Projects scheme.
I have reserved my decision on a further 18 grants pending further advice to the ARC from security agencies.
One of my first acts as Minister for Education was to introduce the national interest test for ARC grants and to give an undertaking to the sector that I would be transparent when reporting ARC grant funding decisions.
