Christou Architects has been selected to design early childhood education facilities at High Wycombe Primary School, which will provide new students with a modern learning environment and create local jobs.
The brief for the architect for the $3 million facility includes four classrooms, a kitchen and storage facilities, cleaner’s room, external storerooms, and a new undercover sandpit.
With the project now in the documentation stage, construction is expected to start in early 2021 with completion expected in September 2021.
This investment is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and is expected to create four jobs.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“This facility will breathe new life into High Wycombe Primary School, which originally opened in 1961, and will give young students the best possible start to their education.
“The Government has committed to upgrading 24 public primary schools.”
As stated by Forrestfield MLA Stephen Price:
“The school community have been calling for these new facilities for a very long time. I am pleased to be delivering for our community and it’s terrific to see this project progressing so quickly.
“The new early childhood facilities will give kids in our local area the best possible start to their education.”
