Armed robbery arrests in Deception Bay and Dakabin, QLD

Police have taken two people into custody after two armed robberies were committed within 30 minutes of each other in Deception Bay and Dakabin overnight (November 22).

It will be alleged a 28-year-old Burpengary East man entered a take-away restaurant on Deception Bay Road just after 6pm and threatened workers with a firearm.

It will be further alleged, after a short confrontation, he left the business empty-handed and was seen entering the passenger side of a blue Ford Fiesta, driving north on Deception Bay Road.

Police will also allege just before 6.30pm a man of similar description entered a business on Whitehorse Road in Dakabin and threatened staff, stealing cigarettes and money.

He again allegedly left the business in the blue Ford Fiesta which was seen by responding police, driving onto the Bruce Highway northbound from Deception Bay Road.

The car stopped on the highway and officers took the driver, a 36-year-old Petrie woman, into custody without further incident.

The male passenger allegedly ran from the car and with the assistance of the Dog Squad, was located at a house in Burpengary East.

Police located a firearm close to where the car was intercepted, and it will be tested to confirm if it is linked to the robberies.

The pair remain in police custody and are assisting with enquiries.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV or dash-camera footage from either Deception Bay Road or Whitehorse Road, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm last night, to contact them. Investigations are continuing.
