Arrests made, cash seized, in Gisborne operation targeting methamphetamine supply

As put by Detective Inspector Darrin Thompson, National Organised Crime Group:

Two men have been arrested following several search warrants executed in Gisborne this week.

The National Organised Crime Group (NOCG) have led 13 search warrants at Gisborne commercial and residential addresses this week, nine on Monday 14 August and four on Wednesday 16 August.

The focus of the operation was to disrupt the supply of methamphetamine into the Gisborne community and reduce the impact and harm it is causing.

Two 36-year-old men from Hawke’s Bay appeared in Gisborne District Court on Wednesday on charges relating to the supply of methamphetamine and cannabis as well as one charge of possession of ammunition.

One is due to reappear on 6 September, the other at a later date.

Approximately 1.8kg of cannabis, 47 rounds of ammunition, and approximately $40,000 in cash were located and seized in the termination.
