Drouin’s newly renovated Community Hub facility will come to life in colour and sound on Saturday 14 October with the Oak Steet Arts Happening – a free, market style event organised by the Committee for Drouin to showcase local artist and musicians.

The event will feature stalls with handmade goods, art demonstrations, children’s activities, a coffee van, and music from 3BBR.

The event will also officially launch the opening of the Drouin Community Hub which was recently upgraded by Baw Baw Shire Council to create more functional spaces for its multiple users, improve safety and provide accessible toilets, pathways, and flooring.

President of Committee for Drouin Jeannie Haughton says all members of the community are invited to come along and join in the free festivities.

“We are looking forward to hosting the Arts Happening for our community to enjoy,” says Ms Haughton. “Our event intends to platform our incredibly talented arts community and offer some fun and exciting community activities. Attendees will also get the chance to walk through the newly updated Drouin Community Hub space and get to know the community groups already active in the Oak Street area”.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe is looking forward to seeing the improved venue come alive with community activity.

“This space is widely used by many community members with differing needs, particularly our local seniors,” says the Mayor. “I’m delighted to see the completed works. They’ve transformed the space into a much more functional and accessible venue, perfect for meetings and all kinds of community activities for the public. I couldn’t imagine a better event to reopen it to the community and show off its possibilities – all credit to the Committee for Drouin for putting the celebration together.”
