Art Sensation Back For Extended Season By Popular Demand

VIC Premier

Victorians can again experience artist Patricia Piccinini’s unforgettable transformation of Flinders Street Station’s hidden top floor, reopening today with an extended season into June 2022.

The celebrated exhibition, titled A Miracle Constantly Repeated was originally part of Rising Festival – the most recent addition to Victoria’s major events calendar.

As the city’s arts and culture destinations continue to reopen, sessions for the exhibition are rapidly selling out.

Created by one of Victoria’s leading artists, A Miracle Constantly Repeated offers a unique multi-sensory experience, exploring the resilience of communities and nature’s ability to bounce back from traumatic events.

More than 25,000 visitors have already seen the exhibition and experienced the old Flinders Street Station Ballroom and other spaces brought back to life.

Long hidden from public view, the exhibition has transformed the entire top floor of the station. The historic ballroom along with 12 adjacent and secret rooms, provide a curious backdrop to Piccinini’s hyper-real sculptures and installations of video, sound and light.

Originally a centrepiece of the first RISING festival, the exhibition was unable to proceed due to the pandemic. It will now be extended to the end of June taking in the 2022 festival, which runs from 1 June to 12 June next year.

Created by the Andrews Labor Government, RISING is a major new drawcard event for Melbourne and asserts the city’s reputation as Australia’s creative and culture capital.

A Miracle Constantly Repeated is now open at Flinders Street Station. Visitors aged 16 and over must show proof of vaccination, or exemption, upon entry and wear a mask inside the exhibition.
