Arthur Street gets make-over

Arthur Street, South Yarra is looking a lot brighter, thanks to a colourful mural that has recently been completed on its north side.

Commissioned by City of Stonnington to revive the site following the development of the metro tunnel rail corridor, Melbourne based street artist, David “MEGGS” Hooke brightened the site with colourful locally indigenous natives representative of the area, and created a concept and story that would appeal to the community.

Running the length (70 metres+ and 1000-1200cm high) of the pedestrian walkway, the mural has also been finished with an anti-graffiti coating to prevent any graffiti along the concrete barrier.

The artwork now brings life and vibrancy to this streetscape after months of industrial development.

The City of Stonnington worked with local street art project management company – MAMAM.

Take a wander and check it out.
