Tasmanian small businesses will soon be able to access a new service that will provide personalised advice on improving their workplace to help them attract and retain staff.
Speaking at the opening of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania’s Multicultural Tasmania Employers Conference, Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth, Felix Ellis, said the time had come for Tasmanian businesses to truly embrace diversity in recruitment practices with the new Employer of Choice Assist service available on 1 August.
“The Employer of Choice Assist service will help businesses develop the best possible workplaces, ultimately leading to become an Employer of Choice,” Minister Ellis said.
“We’ve got too many qualified engineers driving Ubers and too many future project leaders doing gig work waiting for their big break into the jobs market.
“The new service is part of the rebooted Employer of Choice program which retains its valued recognition program as well as regional events on topics like increasing productivity or competitiveness.
“This new service will deliver personalised one-on-one advice to businesses to help them develop leading workplace practices that support them to attract and retain a workforce by working towards being an Employer of Choice. “
Minister Ellis said the new service was yet another way the Rockliff Liberal Government was delivering jobs growth for Tasmanians.
Expressions of interest are now being taken from small businesses wanting to participate in the program.
Employer of Choice Assist will be delivered by the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, supported by Jobs Tasmania.
