The best start for your business

Representatives from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will be visiting Albury from 25 to 27 June 2019 to provide tailored workshops that will assist small businesses understand their tax and super obligations.

By providing face-to-face workshops, the ATO is giving small businesses in Albury the opportunity to learn and understand what they need to do, why and how, so they can confidently get off to the right start in running their business.

We are offering free workshops on a variety of tax topics for small business including: tax essentials, employer essentials, record keeping and an introduction to Single Touch Payroll. All workshops will be held at the Chamber Hub, 6/512 Swift Street, Albury.

Tax essentials

In this workshop, you will learn about common business structures, business registration and reporting, expenses you may be able to claim including motor vehicle, depreciation and home-based business expenses, and where to go for help and information. Tuesday 25 June 2019, 2.00pm – 4.00pm.

Single Touch Payroll: Introduction

Are you a small business employer with 19 or less employees? This 90 minute overview session will help you understand how Single Touch Payroll will streamline your tax and superannuation reporting from 1 July 2019. Tuesday 25 June 2019, 5.00pm – 6.30pm and Wednesday 26 June 2019, 5.30pm – 7.00pm.

Record keeping for small business (GST registered)

Are you new to business, registered for GST or thinking you may need to register for GST? This workshop will teach you how to calculate and record GST, and how to keep records to claim all entitled deductions. Wednesday 26 June 2019, 9.30am – 11.30am.

Record keeping (not-GST registered)

If you are a small business and not registered for GST, this workshop will give you hands-on experience of recording money in and out of your business. You will also learn time-saving tips that will allow you to focus on your business. Wednesday 26 June 2019, 1.30pm – 3.30pm.

Employer essentials

Do you have employees, or are you thinking of employing workers? This workshop will help you understand your tax and super obligations as an employer and provide information on the online tools and resources available from the ATO. Thursday 27 June 2019, 9.30am – 11.00am.
