The Mitchell Shire community welcomed 41 new Australian citizens, announced five Australia Day Award recipients, and presented three Councillor Awards in a ceremony held as part of Australia Day in Seymour.
The annual official Council Australia Day event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Seymour at Chittick Park in Seymour.
Seymour was selected after an expression of interest process and has joined a significant number of other towns who have hosted the event over recent years.
The 2023 Mitchell Shire Australia Day Award recipients are:
- Citizen of the Year – Brian Moffat
- Young Citizen of the Year – Ethan Liddy
- Community Event of the Year – Broadford Secondary College
- Community Group of the Year – Seymour Football Netball Club
- Access and Inclusion Champion Award – Mitchell Suicide Prevention Network
Councillor Awards were presented to
- Mitchell Community Energy
- Seymour Visitor Information Centre volunteers
- Anthony Ryan
