Ambulance Victoria (AV) was proud to attend the launch of the 2024 Victoria Police and Emergency Services (VPES) Games on Thursday 19 September alongside our partner agencies.
The launch was co-hosted by Tennis Australia, with AV attending alongside representatives from Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, VICSES, Life Saving Victoria and other agencies.
Director Regional Operations Vanessa Gorman represented AV and said the Games are an opportunity for members from emergency services agencies to come together to connect over the shared passion of sport.
“It’s fantastic for our paramedics and employees to have the chance to once again play in the VPES Games and connect with our emergency services colleagues,” Vanessa said.
“It’s more than a friendly competition – it’s an opportunity to build and strengthen our relationship with our colleagues across the state and also to prioritise mental and physical health through sport.”
Ambulance Victoria will field a team of employees from across Victoria to participate in a range of sports.
This year marks the 43rd year of the Games and will include 42 sports and 178 unique events conducted throughout Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
For the first time, pickleball has been introduced as a sport within the Games.
Sporting events will take place over the eight days with potentially 4,000 participants from about 30 Emergency Services agencies.
The VPES Games will run from Sunday 20 October to Sunday 27 October.
