Backing active, connected communities with Tunstall Park upgrade

Nunawading locals and seniors will enjoy better access to fitness equipment under a new commitment announced today by the Liberals and Nationals.

Under this plan, a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will invest $150,000 to install new outdoor fitness equipment at Tunstall Park.

The health, mobility and general wellbeing of seniors and others in the community has been strongly impacted by COVID lockdowns and supporting locals to get active once again is an important part of our recovery.

The new exercise equipment will be specifically designed to meet the mobility requirements of seniors and is expected to be widely used by the adjacently located U3A Nunawading and its 2,000 active local members.

Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy, said backing active and better-connected local communities was a key part of the Liberals and Nationals plan to recover and rebuild.

“The world’s longest lockdown has done enormous damage to the wellbeing and physical and mental health of so many across our community.”

“To recover and rebuild, we must back local communities to get active and socially connected once again and this important upgrade will achieve just that.”

Liberal Candidate for Ringwood, Cynthia Watson, said this important investment would support active aging in the community, and the physical and mental wellbeing of local residents of all abilities.

“Local parks are a much-valued meeting place for the community, and with the right support people can improve their physical and mental wellbeing while connecting with friends and family.”

“This important investment will deliver specially designed fitness equipment for all abilities and support stronger, better connected local communities.”

“This important investment will deliver suitable fitness equipment for all abilities and support active aging in our community. It’s about helping you live your best life.”
