Leisuretime Sports Precinct has signed a three-year agreement with Geelong United Basketball which will see competitions and programs become available more often in Geelong’s Northern suburbs.
As a vital step in boosting the sport’s growth in the northern suburbs, Leisuretime will once again host social and competitive Geelong United Basketball matches.
Geelong United Basketball is a recent amalgamation of Corio Bay Basketball Association and Basketball Geelong. In 2017, Basketball Geelong moved from the courts at Leisuretime to the newly built AWA Stadium in Belmont.
The new deal will benefit Corio and Norlane locals as well as Lara and Bannockburn residents, who will be able to drive a short 15 minutes to play domestic games in the Geelong United Basketball competitions, travelling to both Leisuretime and the Geelong Arena.
Leisuretime has also re-opened its doors to several sports including badminton, squash and martial arts. The outdoor synthetic pitch and indoor courts are now available for club and group bookings but are operating with some restrictions in place.
The Geelong Arena has reopened for tenants and regular user groups for authorised activities under the gradual easing of coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, however, the venue will remain temporarily closed to other visitors until further notice.
Meanwhile, Barwon Valley Activity Centre in Belmont is now open for indoor cricket training and club futsal bookings.

Basketball participation is growing fast in Geelong and includes teams from the Bellarine and Lara. To bring games back to Leisuretime is a real win for the local community and for those who don’t have to travel so far for games.
