Beloved Chapel Street Festival To Return

VIC Premier

The much-loved Chapel Street Festival will return boosting the iconic dining and shopping strip’s economy and community thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Small Business Jaala Pulford today announced the $450,000 Labor Government investment to back the return of an inclusive, family-friendly festival in partnership with the Chapel Street Precinct Association.

The street festival will celebrate the unique character of the precinct, with areas showcasing fashion, art, music and food.

Funding will help to cover the costs of running such a large-scale event, including equipment hire, health and safety officers, permits and fees, and traffic management.

It has been 20 years since the last street festival was held on the iconic strip and the next iteration is planned for late 2023.

This builds on the recent funding for a festival to be held on High Street, Northcote with planning already well underway.

Businesses or groups planning to hold an event or festival can access Business Victoria’s new Event Planning Tool that connects them with all the permits and resources needed to plan a safe and successful festival at business.vic.gov.au.
