Children in Townsville can see the incredible work of beloved Australian children’s author Andy Griffiths come to life when JUST (tricking, annoying, stupid, crazy, disgusting, shocking, doomed) LIVE ON STAGE! comes to Townsville Civic Theatre from 8 – 9 August 2023.
This dazzling production, targeted at kids aged 8-12, takes on the wonderful world of the hugely-popular JUST book series written by Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton.
Griffiths and Denton have collaborated on more than 33 bestselling books since their first title ‘Just Tricking’ was published in 1997, selling over 10 million copies in Australia.
They have also enjoyed huge success with their much-loved ‘Treehouse Series’, which has been embraced by children around the world and is now published in more than 35 countries.
Series creator and New York Times best seller Griffiths said the live production was a thrilling opportunity to bring these rich and wild stories to life.
“The JUST series is where it all began for me and it will be JUST amazing to see these crazy/annoying/stupid stories come alive on stage,” he said.
“This high-energy show covers everything from invisibility pills and Mudmen, to vomiting dogs and death-defying balloon rides.”
The show tells the story of a young Andy and his battle to win his school’s short story competition, with the help of his best friend Danny, the love of his life Lisa and his somewhat trusty dog Sooty.
Townsville Civic Theatre will host a night-time performance at 6:30pm on Tuesday 8 August 2023 before shows at 10am and 1pm on Wednesday 9 August 2023.
Community and Cultural Development chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said this show will be a hit with kids and something the whole family could enjoy.
