Beltz and Guest join Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame

Congratulations to our sporting stars Sam Beltz and David Guest for their induction into the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame.

Sam and David are the newest inductees to join 133 other Tasmanians in the Hall of Fame.

A two time Olympian, Sam Beltz began his rowing journey at Lindisfarne Rowing Club, while also training with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. He became a member of the Australian Rowing Team in 1999 and was a member for 15 years.

Sam went on to become a World Champion in the Lightweight Men’s Four at the 2011 World Championships in Bled, Slovenia, and competed at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games.

Since retiring, Sam now works as a physiotherapist in Hobart, focussing on workplace rehabilitation and injury management.

Hockey star David Guest was a member of the Kookaburras for 10 years and played a total of 103 international matches, scoring 19 goals during his extensive career.

David is an Olympic Bronze medallist, competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Other career highlights include being part of the team to win the Champions Trophy in Chennai in 2005, and placing second at the same competition in Kuala Lumpur in 2007.

After retiring from International Hockey, David has assisted with coaching the Tassie Tigers and has further developed his coaching with the Kookaburras, Hockeyroos and Fremantle Dockers. He has also worked at the Western Australian Institute of Sport and New South Wales Institute of Sport.

Congratulations to these latest inductees, who have had incredible careers and continue to make their mark in the industry.
