Big Score For Wallan Magpies Next Season

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is backing Wallan Magpies Football and Netball Club to score big – rain, hail or shine.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence over the weekend announced the oval at Greenhill Reserve will be made weatherproof, through the latest round of the Labor Government’s Country Football and Netball Program.

More than $100,000 in funding from the Labor Government will go towards reshaping, leveling and irrigation to prevent damage and ensure clubs can play on.

Once complete, the Magpies will have room to grow and locals can get on the ground when they want, whether as a player, coach, umpire or volunteer.

The $2.3 million program is a partnership with Netball Victoria, Australian Football League, and AFL Victoria established in 2005 to help netball and football clubs across the state to meet growing demand and welcome even more members. The program has delivered more than $34.5 million to support more than 550 projects.

Better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for players, coaches, umpires and supporters of all abilities to get involved in local sport and lead healthy and active lifestyles.

The Government has invested more than $1.1 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
