APT cemented its position as the nation’s leading tour operator when it picked up the Most Outstanding Tour Operator – Global at the 2023 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIAs) in Melbourne last Saturday night.

The award caps off a couple of stunning years for APT who have reinvigorated their business post-COVID while maintaining their laser focus on customer satisfaction, innovation and sustainability.

According to Co-owners and Directors of APT, Robert McGeary and Lou Tandy (nee McGeary), the award is testament to the hard work the whole team has put in over the last couple of years.

“We have a passionate and committed team who deeply appreciate our commitment to our customers. The essence of our culture is customer focused,” Tandy said.

“We understand our trips are often a reward for a lifetime of hard work and we work incredibly hard on designing enriching experiences for our customers,” McGeary said.

Chief executive of APT, David Cox said the Most Outstanding Tour Operator Award is recognition for APT’s unrelenting focus on the Australian travel consumer.

“Furthermore, when customers travel with us, we go out of our way to ensure they experience the local culture but at the same time, we make sure those little quintessential Australian things are there for them so they’re relaxed and can thoroughly enjoy their holiday,” Cox said.

With APT almost celebrating its 100th year, the company is launching an ambitious four-year global growth strategy as it approaches its centenary celebrations in 2027.

This includes an expansion of APT’s product offerings around the globe because “after nearly 100 years, we are always innovating and investing in the business for now and the future”.

Next year alone the company will be introducing over 30 new itineraries and 200+ departures including a focus on the Kimberley where the company will continue its $15 million investment in exclusive wilderness lodges and coaches. Next year also marks the beginning of two new ship builds and the launch of the company’s brand-new Douro River ship in Europe following the launch of the Vietnam-based Mekong Serenity in September this year.

“What our expansion plans illustrate is we are a truly global travel company offering everything from private jet charters and luxury rail tours to 4WD-tours as well as river and ocean cruises including expedition cruising to some of the most beautiful places on the planet,” Cox said.

APT Luxury Travel is the largest Australian-owned tour operator in the country with offices around the globe. For almost 100 years, it has been creating experiences that go beyond the expected across every continent.
