Blacktown City Council Bush Fire Appeal

Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM has launched a Bush Fire Appeal as a response to the bushfires that have devastated so much of New South Wales.

Mayor Bleasdale said; “We are setting up collection points throughout the City where residents can leave items that will be distributed to victims of the fires and evacuation centres.

“So far Blacktown has fortunately escaped the bushfires and Council has vowed to do all it can to assist those councils and their residents who have been hit by the bush fires.”

Items for the Blacktown City Council Bushfire Appeal to be accepted from this morning:

  • Non-perishable food items (tinned food and meals (with pull rings) with and dry packaged goods)
  • Personal hygiene items
  • New clothes

These items can be left at Blacktown City Libraries, Council’s depot at Station Street Rooty Hill and Council’s Administration Centre, Flushcombe Road, Blacktown.

Council is also encouraging people to make monetary donations. Information on ways that residents can assist during this crisis is available at RFS NSW. “Council will be liaising with other councils through Local Government NSW to ascertain what other assistance can be provided such as vehicles and machinery to be used in recovery operations.” Mayor Bleasdale said. Meanwhile, Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside remains closed until Tuesday 7 January.
