Body found during search for missing person at Mittagong

A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing from the state’s Southern Highlands, has been located.

The 50-year-old man was last seen at a home on Sunset Point Drive, Mittagong, on Monday 15 January 2024.

When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Following extensive inquiries and a multi-agency search with assistance from Camden Police Area Command, PolAir, Police Rescue, WaterNSW, and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, around 11am today (Wednesday 1 November 2023), the body of a man was located in bushland off Avon Dam Road, Bargo.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the 50-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
