Body of woman located in flood waters in North Lismore

Police have located the body of a woman who was reported missing in flood waters on the state’s north coast earlier this week.

About 9.50pm on Tuesday (29 March 2022), officers from Richmond Police District commenced an investigation into the whereabout of a 55-year-old woman who was reported missing in flood waters at Monaltrie, approximately 5km south of Lismore.

Officers were informed that the woman had left Tullera (approximately 10km north of Lismore) on the same day and failed to arrive at her intended destination.

Following information from a member of the public the body a woman was located in flood waters near the intersection of Alexandra Parade and Tweed Street, North Lismore shortly before 7pm today (Thursday 31 March 2022).

The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the missing woman.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The 2017 white Holden Captiva, with NSW registration YHS 51F, that the woman was travelling in has not yet been located.
