Kiama and Gerringong Library are once again hosting a range of fun events, activities, and competitions, plus an author tour for Book Week 2022 (20-26 August).

Since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia with our schools and public libraries have used Book Week to promote Australian children’s books, their authors and illustrators.

This year our library team is hitting the road for a tour of local schools, treating hundreds of children to a special visit from bestselling children’s author R A Spratt.

R A Spratt is a best known for the Peski Kids, Friday Barnes and Nanny Piggins series of books.

Her podcast ‘Bedtime Stories with R A Spratt’ was launched in February 2020 and now has a huge following from around the world. (Because she is seriously entertaining and funny.)

Also featuring this Book Week is Dreamtime storytime sessions at Kiama and Gerringong Libraries with special guests, Gumaraa.

Gumaraa is an Aboriginal cultural experience and education company that delivers authentic First Nations experiences for all, based on the traditions of the Dharawal and Yuin Nation.

Gumaraa will be sharing some local Dreamtime stories and doing craft activities with some of our youngest library patrons, tying in the theme for Book Week 2022, ‘Dreaming with eyes open’.

Bookings are essential.
