Book your hard waste collection early for collections after Grand Final long weekend

Mattresses, old computers and furniture are often the first items we purge during a spring clean. Now is the perfect time to get an early start by booking in for your on-call hard waste collection.

Due to the Grand Final Public Holiday on Friday 23 October, booking dates have changed and you will have to get in early if you want to make a booking for the following week.

To make a booking for the week of Monday 26 October 2020

  • Book online before 8pm on Wednesday 21 October
  • Call 1300 88 22 33 or contact our Customer Service team via live chat before 12noon on Thursday 22 October.

Maroondah residents who pay a residential bin charge are entitled to two pre-booked collections per year.

Council’s on-call hard rubbish collection is a waste disposal and recycling service for items that are too large to dispose of through your regular household waste bin.

Hard waste bookings can be made online or by calling Council’s Customer Service team on 1300 88 22 33 or via live chat. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, bookings cannot be made in person at our customer service centres due to centre closures.

Bookings must be made before placing your waste on the nature strip.

As a result of health and safety restrictions, Council will not be sending out booking kits which include the pink BOOKED sticker. Your hard waste will still be collected and, if we have your mobile number, you will receive an SMS reminder the weekend prior to your collection week.

Residents are urged to stick to the collection size limits. Excess material will not be collected and must be removed from the nature strip as soon as possible.

Householders are also reminded that there are rules as to what is suitable for collection. See our On call hard rubbish collection page for all the do’s and don’ts.

Before you place your hard waste out for collection, please consider if any items are still in good, working condition and could be reused. There are a range of options for these types of items including charity stores and recycling groups. You might want to check to see who is currently accepting donations.

Hard waste collection tips

  • Place any small or loose items in cardboard boxes, don’t use bags.
  • There must be no more than two cubic metres per collection. Two cubic metres is two metres in length, one metre in depth and one metre in height.
  • Uncollected items must be removed from nature strips within 24 hours of collection
