Boy charged following stabbing in Maribyrnong shopping centre

Westgate Divisional Response Unit & Alliance Taskforce officers have charged a boy after an alleged affray and stabbing at a shopping centre in Maribyrnong yesterday.

It is alleged six males were fighting near a cinema inside the shopping centre on Rosamond Road, before spilling out to the restaurant area about 6.10pm.

Two of the males were allegedly armed with machetes.

An 18-year-old St Albans man was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound to the arm.

An 18-year-old Sunshine North man, 17-year-old Braybrook boy and 18-year-old Deer Park man were arrested at the scene.

The Sunshine North man was released pending further enquiries.

The Deer Park man was released with intent to summons.

The Braybrook boy has been charged with intentionally cause injury, affray, assault with a weapon, and possess a control weapon.

He has been bailed to a children’s court at a later date.

It is believed the parties were known to one another.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information to identify the two other males involved in the incident.
