Boy dies in fatal crash near Wagga Wagga, NSW

A child has died following a single vehicle crash south of Wagga Wagga today.

About 12.15pm (Saturday 2 October 20210), emergency services attended Holbrook Road, near Paper Forest Road, at Mangoplah following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

A Mitsubishi Triton was travelling northbound on Holbrook Road when it appears to have left the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver – a 28-year-old man – was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

A six-year-old boy – a passenger – died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit are attending.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Holbrook Road is currently closed in both directions and motorists are advised to use alternate routes or delay their travels.

Investigations are continuing.
