Breakfast with Steve Burgess to grow thriving main streets

Greater Shepparton City Council and the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry present an inspiring and informative session for the business community with urban strategist Steve Burgess.


The business community of Greater Shepparton have an important role to play to help shape the future growth of the region. With many people relocating from larger cities, the upcoming Maude Street Mall redevelopment and influx of visitations there are great opportunities for local businesses to position themselves and enhance their services.

Steve Burgess is an international keynote speaker on people and places, and brings 30 years’ experience of being a transport engineer and urban strategist to help regional cities explore opportunities to engage and leverage from the space around them.

Greater Shepparton City Council Place Manager, Bonnie McIntosh encourages Greater Shepparton’s business community to attend.

“This is an amazing opportunity for all of Greater Shepparton’s local businesses to expand their knowledge and discover new ways to grow their business,” Ms McIntosh said.

“Steve will discuss innovative ways to manage growth, using funding and infrastructure wisely, and how businesses can engage with the environment around them to set up a prosperous regional city.”

The session will cover city structures, activations, investment and development, movement and parking, and long-term prosperity across Shepparton and our regional towns.

Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, John Anderson said they were excited to deliver a talk on planning, design and management of city spaces.

“I urge local businesses to take the time to come to this session, Steve will explain his concepts of creating public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness and well-being,” Mr Anderson said.

“One point of interest that will also be discussed are strategies on parking, pros and cons of free and paid parking.

“So please join us for a coffee and breakfast and be informed on what are some of the most important topics regarding the CBD and how to best leverage from the revitalisation projects and collectively promote our city.”

This is a FREE event however participants need to register their attendance ahead of time for catering purposes.
