Building our community one mentor at time

Have you ever seen the power of mentoring first-hand?

As we head towards National Mentor Day on Wednesday 26 October, this is the perfect reminder to acknowledge the value of giving back to our community through mentoring our young people.

As part of our Communities That Care Action Plan we have identified a clear need for an increase in mentors across the Mornington Peninsula.

The role of a mentor has a positive and long-lasting impact on a young person’s life.

Mentoring is a real and tangible opportunity to share your skills, knowledge and experience with a young person in our community.

Currently, the TAC L2P program delivered through Mornington Peninsula Shire and the community led Bayview Care’s COACH program, are two organisations desperately seeking mentors to support local young people. Both programs have a low commitment level each week and offer flexibility to volunteers interested in coming on board.

The programs have a waitlist of eager and keen young people looking for mentors to connect with and support them. All training is provided and staff are available to help guide and support you on your mentor journey. You don’t need to have all the answers, just be available and willing to connect with a young person through varied activities such as driving lessons, games, art & craft and more.

VOLUNTEER TODAY!

This year for National Mentor Day, take the opportunity to give back.
