Building our Regions Round 6 announced

  • More than $69 million approved for 99 projects that will improve water and sewerage services in 50 regional and remote local councils.

Improvements to critical water and sewerage services will become a reality for 50 Queensland councils thanks to the Palaszczuk Government, following the announcement of the latest round of Building our Regions funding.

Building our Regions has a long and successful history of supporting Queensland’s local governments to invest in essential regional infrastructure, creating jobs and flow-on economic development opportunities.

To date, including Round 6, the Building our Regions program has contributed to 370 projects across 69 local government areas. The program has leveraged close to $610 million in additional funding from other sources bringing the total program expenditure to over $1 billion, supporting an estimated 3,180 construction jobs.

There were two project elements for Round 6 – planning and infrastructure. Planning projects are those where funding was sought for a range of activities to prepare for construction of critical water and sewerage projects. Infrastructure projects are those that were ready for construction.

Of the 69 local governments that have been supported by Building or Regions, this includes seven Indigenous councils and one town authority.
