A bus driver will face court later this month following investigations into a collision between two buses in Sydney’s east last week.
At 4.15pm on Monday 27 July 2020, emergency services were called to the intersection of Anzac Parade and High Street, Kensington, following reports of a crash involving two buses.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command arrived to find a 47-year-old woman, who was a passenger on one of the buses, suffering serious head injuries. She was taken to St Vincents Hospital in a serious condition.
One of the bus drivers, a 53-year-old man, was also treated at the scene for minor leg injuries. He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital where he also underwent mandatory testing.
The second driver, a 58-year-old man, was uninjured.
Following inquiries by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, the 53-year-old man was arrested at a bus depot at Leichhardt and taken to Newtown Police Station earlier today (Tuesday 4 August 2020).
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and not stop at stop line at red light.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2020.
