Bus industrial action

Vic Department of Transport

Bus passengers are urged to plan ahead, with expected industrial action on Friday, 6 May 2022 likely to result in disruptions to services.

This will specifically impact Melbourne’s bus network operated by Ventura and Dyson in the eastern, southern and north-eastern suburbs on between 12.01am and 11.59pm.

Despite every effort to prioritise school bus services, some dedicated school buses and routes that service schools will not operate.

Passengers in these areas are urged to check the PTV website and app before travelling with many bus services reduced or unable to run due to driver availability.

All Night Bus services and Department of Education Specialist School Bus Services will continue to operate.

The latest school bus cancellation information can also be found at the Department of Education’s website.

We encourage all parties to continue to negotiate for new enterprise agreements in good faith and achieve a resolution without impacting passengers who rely on these services to get them where they need to go.

The Department of Transport is working closely with Ventura and Dyson to run as many bus services as possible subject to driver availability and access from the depots.
