Business defrauded of almost $800,000; woman charged at Crows Nest, NSW

A woman has been charged after allegedly defrauding a north shore business of almost $800,000 over five years.

In March 2020, detectives from North Shore Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a report a business in Crows Nest had been defrauded by an employee.

As part of inquiries, a 44-year-old woman from Point Piper attended Chatswood Police Station on Saturday 25 April 2020 to assist investigators with their inquiries.

Detectives today (Monday 18 May 2020), subsequently issued the woman with a Future Court Attendance Notice for 16 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception (fraud).

Police will allege in court that the woman made 380 transactions from several business bank accounts into other accounts between 2015 and 2020, dishonestly obtaining more than $787,000.

She is due to appear before Manly Local Court on Tuesday 14 July 2020.
