Two more companies have joined EV100, The Climate Group‘s growing corporate leadership initiative aiming to make electric vehicles (EVs) ‘the new normal’ by 2030.
ADM Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) and Montreal taxi services company Taxelco have both committed to switch their fleets to EVs by 2030, sending an important demand signal to the market to accelerate the shift to electric transport.
“By joining EV100, companies send a powerful market signal that electric transport should be at the heart of any business strategy,” said Sandra Roling, Head of EV100, The Climate Group.
She continued, “With transport accounting for a quarter of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions, these leading businesses know that tackling climate change means electrifying their fleets.”
Companies leading by example
Taxleco delivers close to a third of all taxi rides in Montéal (Taxi Diamond and Taxi Hochelaga). Aiming to accelerate a wider shift to EVs by the local taxi industry and lead by example, the company will switch 1,500 vehicles to electric by 2030 (Téo Taxi), as well as collaborating on the implementation of many charging points.
“We are proud to join EV100,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, new owner of Taxelco. “While Québec is fortunate to be able to count on wealth such as hydroelectricity, making the choice as a company to electrify our transportation means choosing to make a difference to the environment and having a lasting impact on our ecological footprint.”
ADM is responsible for the management, operation and development of YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel. Under EV100, the company will switch its entire fleet of light-duty vehicles to electric by 2030, adding 57 electric vehicles to the 12 it already owns. ADM will also switch over half of its heavy-duty vehicles over the same timeframe and install charging stations for employees and customers.

Policy ambition is key
The new EV100 announcements were made at IMPULSION MTL, an international forum organised by Propulsion Québec, the Canadian province’s ‘cluster’ working to position Québec as a leader on electric mobility.
“Taking action on vehicles that spend their days on the roads is a key way to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Sarah Houde, President and CEO, Propulsion Québec.
“We are delighted to see companies of the scale of Taxelco and ADM so resolutely commit to a large-scale electrification of their vehicles. This necessary shift is underway in cities, public bodies and businesses around the world.”
She continued, “Our Québec ecosystem on electric and autonomous vehicles has the know-how and the ambition to be able to support this transformation of the transport sector and to support the companies that are committed today to the EV100 initiative.”
Propulsion Québec is financially supported by the Government of Québec, the Government of Canada and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM).

Sustainable mobility is a key commitment area for the Government, which is aiming to have 100,000 electric vehicles on Québec’s roads by next year.
