Call for Tasmanian leaders to join 26TEN Coalition

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

Influential Tasmanians with a passion for building adult literacy and numeracy skills are being called on to join the 26TEN Coalition.

26TEN aims for all adult Tasmanians to have the literacy and numeracy skills they need to participate in family life, our communities, in learning and at work.

It does this by bringing together individuals, business, community and all levels of government to work together to make difference.

Education, Children and Youth Minister, Roger Jaensch, said 26TEN’s approach of getting all Tasmanians to work together was vital to making a lasting difference and giving all Tasmanians the opportunity to participate fully in society.

“26TEN Coalition members play a central role in this collaborative effort by giving their time and influence to motivate action in their nominated industry or sector,” Minister Jaensch said.

“That is why we are seeking new members from sectors not currently represented.”

These sectors include the legal, finance, tourism, hospitality, media, retail, community and not-for-profit sectors.

Coalition members also raise awareness and promote clear communication using plain English.

“By working together, we can raise adult literacy and numeracy skills in our State,” the Minister said.

The volunteer positions are appointed by the Minister for Education, Children and Youth for an initial two-year term to 2025.

Expressions of Interest for members are open until 27 February 2023.
