Campbelltown, let’s get loose this National Recycling Week

Campbelltown residents are being encouraged to keep their recyclables loose and unbagged in their yellow-lid bins as part of National Recycling Week, helping ensure valuable materials have the best chance of being recycled.

Recyclable items placed in plastic bags cannot be properly sorted at the recycling facility, meaning materials that could otherwise be recovered and reused may end up in landfill.

Through Council’s Take A Minute Before You Bin It campaign, residents are encouraged to check where household items belong before putting them in the bin and make informed choices about their waste.

“Every household can play a part in improving our recycling efforts, and it starts with the simple decisions we make at home,” Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound said.

“Keeping recyclables loose is an easy way we can all help ensure more valuable materials are recovered and given another life.” Cr Darcy Lound said.

Council is also upgrading its Waste and Recycling App to make it easier for residents to access waste information, set bin night reminders and check the updated A-Z Waste and Recycling Guide.
