Capricornia District welcomes 12 new first year constables in Rockhampton, QLD

The Capricornia District welcomes and congratulates a dozen First Year Constables who officially begin their duties with the Queensland Police Service today.

These 12 officers will play a pivotal role in protecting and serving our community throughout their entire career with the QPS.

The 12 officers’ initial year in the Service will see them take on unique policing experiences with many venturing to rural stations.

Throughout their probationary period, they will rotate their allocated stations, allowing them broad exposure and opportunity to respond to a variety of policing situations.

The cohort’s diversity in age and professional backgrounds serves as a reminder for those looking for a challenging and rewarding career, to consider a position within QPS.

The QPS is embarking on its biggest ever police recruitment campaign with new incentives announced recently for new recruits, including extra financial support while training at police academies.

In addition to these new officers the Rockhampton District capabilities are to be bolstered with four growth positions including:

o 1 x Rockhampton CIB

o 1 x Rockhampton CPIU

o 1 x Rockhampton SOC

o 1 x Rockhampton Forensic Crash Unit

Quotes attributable to District Officer, Superintendent Glen Pointing:

“These new positions and 12 additional officers will complement our response to youth crime and illustrates that the Queensland Police Service is taking this issue seriously.”

” I look forward to seeing the important outcomes they will achieve.”

“As a Service, we encourage people with diverse backgrounds, who reflect the community we serve, and I am excited to see what these new officers can bring to our organisation.

“Our job is like no other, and your experience will help us make a positive difference.”
