PolAir and patrols have worked together to arrest the driver of a stolen car this morning.
Just after 2.10am Monday 10 February police were called to Durham Terrace in Ferryden Park after reports that a house had been broken in to and the occupants allegedly assaulted. The suspect decamped empty handed.
Soon after, about 2.20am, police received a second report that a home on Malcom Street had been broken into and a grey Renault Koleos stolen. The occupants were at home at the time of the break in but were not physically injured.
There were several sightings of the stolen Renault which was allegedly driving erratically before it was seen travelling through the Adelaide CBD.
About 2.40am a man standing next to his car in Franklin Street was approached by the Renault, the driver and sole occupant allegedly threatened the victim and demanded the keys to his car. The suspect was unsuccessful and drove away in the Renault.
PolAir tracked the Renault through a number of suburbs in the west and was allegedly involved in two crashes along Anzac Highway and other incidents at Glenelg and West Beach.
The car travelled through the Brompton area where it allegedly drove at several police vehicles before patrols were able to successfully spike its tyres. The Renault became immobile on Port Road Thebarton with the driver running from the vehicle; however he was swiftly arrested by patrols.
The 36-year-old Kilburn man is expected to be interviewed and charged with a number of serious offences later today. The car was towed from the scene as evidence.
