In a recent review of the caravan and camping industry in Victoria, the state association Caravan Industry Victoria estimates there are opportunities available for over 400 individuals in both a professional corporate setting and in manufacturing and labour based roles.
The findings don’t come as a shock, Australia is seeing a domestic travel boom, with the current circumstance encouraging people to travel ‘at home’. This has led businesses in the industry seeing a significant increase in demand for products and services, resulting in an urgent call for more people to fill job vacancies.
The Victorian caravan and camping industry manufacture 90% of Australia’s caravan and RV product. With the Victorian industry now leaving of one of the world’s toughest lockdowns there is a significant need for more people so products and services can be delivered to excited consumers.
Caravan Industry Victoria has a number of members who operate at both state and national level, Victoria also have some of the best brands in Europe operating out of Victoria including Thetford, and the Truma Group. Paul Widdis GM of LeisureTec (a brand of Truma Group) said “In recent times our new brand RV Online has employed positions in ecommerce and warehousing to help meet the demand in lieu of the travel restrictions and more people travelling at home. We want to be efficient and provide our customers with world class service, and the way to do that, is to have the right people and the right number of people”. Examples of blue collar and white-collar roles include, caravan makers, service and repair technicians, office administrators, marketing managers, accountants and many more.
Caravan Industry Victoria, CEO Rob Lucas said “The industry has so many opportunities, and it is an industry that should not be overlooked when thinking about a new career or career move, including those who are looking for their first job.
