Catastrophic Fire Danger Day – Hawkesbury Showground open

Tuesday, 12 November 2019 has been classified by the NSW Rural Fire Service as a Catastrophic Fire Danger Day for Greater Sydney – Greater Hunter.

Hawkesbury Showground is now open to manage the evacuation and holding of large animals on a temporary basis. The showground is located at 40 Racecourse Rd, Clarendon.

If you intend to use this facility, you will need to come prepared to remain with your animals and with sufficient water and feed. Some stable space is available and in those instances people should make provision for bedding if possible. Animals owners are also asked to bring appropriate identification for their animals. Bathroom facilities are available on site. Entrance is via Gate 4 only, off Racecourse Road at Clarendon.

Subject to demand, it may be necessary to send some animals to other locations. Greater Sydney Local Land Services is working with NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and local control authorities regarding other facilities.
