CCTV released after car fire linked to public place shooting in Greenacre

Detectives have released CCTV vision and are appealing for public information following a car fire at Greenacre overnight, which has been linked to a public place shooting nearby.

About 1.10am today (Tuesday 8 February 2022), emergency services were called to Koala Road, Greenacre, following reports a White Holden SS Commodore Sedan had been set on fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

The vehicle was towed for further forensic examination and officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the white Holden SS Commodore Sedan was seen in the vicinity of the public place shooting at Karuah Street in Greenacre about 1.10am on Monday (7 February 2022).

As part of ongoing investigations, detectives have now released CCTV vision across two nights on Monday 7 February and Tuesday 8 February 2022.

Depicted in the CCTV vision is white five door hatch, seen arriving at Koala Street just after 1am on Monday. Shortly after, the Holden arrives at the same location and a man is seen exiting the vehicle.

A fire is ignited inside the Holden, before burning out. The man’s arm appears to catch on fire as he runs from the scene, before the hatch is then driven away.

The CCTV vision then depicts a man arriving at Koala Street about 1am today (Tuesday 8 February). The Holden is again set on fire and destroyed by the blaze, while the man is seen running from the area.

The man depicted in the CCTV is described as wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper.

Anyone with information about the incident, the men, or the occupants of the vehicles, is urged to come forward immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
