Homicide Squad detectives have released CCTV vision in a renewed appeal for public information as they continue to investigate the 2020 shooting murder of a man in Sydney’s west.
About 2.30am on Monday 30 November 2020, emergency services were called to Rymill Street at Tregear, following reports of a home invasion.
When police arrived, they located a man suffering gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
The man was later identified as 30-year-old, Adnan Salameh.
Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Chatelaine.
Following numerous public appeals for information, strike force detectives have identified a vehicle of interest, seen travelling in the surrounding areas around the time the shooting took place.
Detectives have released CCTV vision of the vehicle – a light-coloured 2001-2005 model Toyota Camry sedan with distinct five-spoke aftermarket wheels – as they re-appeal for fresh information.
Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, said investigators believe identifying the owner or occupants of the Camry could be the breakthrough they need.
“This has been a long and complex investigation which has seen detectives explore several lines of inquiry and new leads generated from several public appeals,” Det Supt Doherty said.
“As a result of these inquiries, detectives believe the vehicle depicted in the CCTV is of interest – captured on Rymill Road at Tregear, near where Adnan was brutally murdered inside his own home.
“The Camry is somewhat distinct due to its customised wheels and light colour. We’re confident someone will recognise this vehicle and may remember seeing it in the Tregear area around the time of Adnan’s death.
“We’re urging anyone with information about that car, the identity of the owner or those seen inside the vehicle, to come forward and contact police,” Det Supt Doherty said.
Investigations under Strike Force Chatelaine are continuing.
