CCTV released in suspicious death of Tao Cheng in Sydney CBD, NSW

Detectives have released CCTV vision as they continue investigations into the suspicious death of a man in a Sydney hotel last week.

About 3pm on Wednesday 7 December 2022, emergency services were called to a hotel on Kent Street, Sydney, over concerns for a man’s welfare.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and found a man deceased in the stairwell of the hotel.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the man’s death, which is believed to be suspicious.

The man has since been identified as a 25-year-old Chinese national, Tao Cheng.

Investigators believe he entered the stairwell about 9pm on Sunday 4 December and have now released CCTV of two men who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
