Central Valley Delivers for Territory Campers

NT Government

Territorians have embraced Litchfield National Park’s newest treasure, with 99 per cent of permit applications for Central Valley coming from local residents.

Almost 400 campers have enjoyed the exclusive area since it opened over a month ago, with just a handful of visits from interstate travellers.

To date, Parks and Wildlife NT have received 155 applications for permits, with 137 vehicles approved to enter the site.

The first campground in the Territory Labor Government’s $17.5 million Central Valley development offers 10 private campsites with access to spring-fed creeks.

The campground includes drop toilets, an information shelter, and is accessible by high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles only.

Once all construction is complete, Central Valley will add 32 new campsites across three separate campgrounds to Litchfield National Park.

Quotes from Minister for Parks and Rangers, Selena Uibo:

“Central Valley has well and truly proved worth the wait, with Territorians booking out their spots in advance.

“The secluded sites are close to beautiful spring-fed creeks with the ease of being able to drive all of your camping gear in, providing yet another reason to get out and explore our beautiful backyard.

“This Government is committed to protecting and conserving our parks, and these upgrades will ease overcrowding with new camping, swimming and walking spots to please visitors of all ages.”
