The CFMEU has declared Jacinta Allan will be a Victorian Premier that continues to play a crucial role in the construction industry.

CFMEU National Secretary Zach Smith said Ms Allan had been an advocate for workers throughout her political career.

“Jacinta Allan has shown all the right signs she will be an excellent premier who continues the state government’s work in building vital infrastructure,” he said.

“As minister for transport and infrastructure, Ms Allan has backed in good construction jobs for CFMEU members.

“Her success across a wide range of portfolios including employment, major projects and industry over a long and distinguished parliamentary career means she’s exactly the kind of leader the state needs to ensure its growing needs are met.

“Victoria’s Big Build has been a game changer. Our members are proud to build these projects, which will benefit millions of Victorians.

“Jacinta Allan has also committed to hundreds of construction jobs in Victoria’s regional areas, which will deliver decent and secure employment in parts of Victoria that haven’t previously seen that sort of investment.

“The Victorian government’s commitment of more than $50 billion of work for our members is the biggest commitment to state-delivered projects in history.

“Ben Carroll has shown great leadership through his delivery of the fair jobs code which will secure dignified and meaningful employment through state government purchasing power.

“I also want to pay tribute to Daniel Andrews for his outstanding commitment to major infrastructure projects which create thousands of jobs in the construction industry.

“Few leaders have had the courage and vision to build so many major projects that will set Victoria up for the future.”
