Charges laid following location of firearms concealed in car – Tullamarine

Detectives from the Financial Crime Squad have charged a man overnight and seized a loaded semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, significant quantities of ammunition and GHB in Tullamarine.

A Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance search was conducted at a Mossfield Mews address in Tullamarine yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 21 November).

A-30-year-old Tullamarine man was charged with two counts of possess firearm where FPO applies, prohibited person possess firearm, two counts of possess unregistered firearm, possess drug of dependence and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He was remanded overnight to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

During the search, investigators located a loaded semi-automatic pistol, a folding ‘switch gun’ revolver and ammunition in a concealed compartment underneath the centre console of a vehicle.

Also seized from the vehicle was a significant quantity of both handgun and longarm ammunition and approximately three litres of what appears to be GHB.

A further FPO compliance search was conducted at a residential address in Glenroy, where members of the VIPER Taskforce seized a small amount of explosives.

The investigation remains ongoing.
