Chief Minister to strengthen ties with Timor-Leste Government

Chief Minister Natasha Fyles will be attending the swearing-in of Timor-Leste’s new Prime Minister today.

The Chief Minister will also meet with the new Government and Cabinet Ministers where stronger ties between the two regions will be developed.

Bi-lateral discussions will be held regarding workforce, biosecurity, and health services.

In February this year the Northern Territory and Timor-Leste Governments signed a new Strategic Partnership Agreement further strengthening ties and unlocking collaboration between our regions.

This year the Territory Government has also allocated $250,000 in funding for skills and workforce projects with Timor-Leste, with a prime focus on aged care, hospitality and construction.

Discussing trade, and economic opportunities, the Chief Minister will also visit the National Health Laboratory in Timor-Leste, who are working with Menzies to improve health outcomes of the region.
