A free screening of Lyle Lyle Crocodile was held on Saturday to mark the end of this year’s Summer Reading Club, and over 200 children and parents attended the event at Majestic Cinemas Kempsey.

The movie, based on the beloved children’s book, was a fun and educational activity for families at the end of the summer break.

Mayor Leo Hauville was also in attendance and spoke about the importance of reading and education for young children. He praised the Summer Reading Club for encouraging kids to read and for providing fun and educational activities for families.

During the event, awards were chosen at random and presented to kids who had participated in the Summer Reading Club. The awards were a symbol of their involvement and dedication to reading, and the children were thrilled to receive them.

7-year-old Lachlan Hardie said, “I love reading and watching movies about books I’ve read. Lyle Lyle Crocodile is one of my favourites!”

The free screening of Lyle Lyle Crocodile was a huge success, and families left the event feeling entertained and inspired.

All children who read 10 books or more and submitted their reading logs went into the draw to win some great prizes.

Congratulations to all the prize winners including Blake who won a Samsung Galaxy tablet and Joan and Angela who won Big W vouchers.

Big thanks to Beth Fuller and Vicki Vaughan from Friends of the Library – Kempsey (FOLK), Gloria Clarke, Natasha Harris, Danika Clarke and Majestic Cinemas Kempsey.

The Summer Reading Club has once again proven to be a valuable resource for families, and the community looks forward to more exciting events like this one for the Kempsey Library family.
