Christmas Festivities Bringing Life To Darwin

It’s that time of year again and this year the Christmas cheer and festivities are happening all across Darwin, with City of Darwin providing a program of wonderful events and activities for the whole family.

The frivolities will kick off on Friday, 30 November at 4.00pm with a special Boutique Markets in The Mall a Christmas carol performance by the Darwin Chorale from 6.15pm to 6.45pm and 7pm to 7.30pm at the Bennett Street end of The Mall followed by the switching on of the Christmas tree lights at 7.30pm by City of Darwin’s Acting Lord Mayor.

“Christmas is a wonderful time of year and for the first time we also have Christmas celebrations happening in each of the Council Wards. So, I encourage people to make the most of Christmas in Darwin, there is something happening every day in December all the way through to Christmas Eve,” said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis.

Free parking is available at West Lane from 3pm on Friday 30 November and all other Council car parks after 5pm and all weekend.

From Saturday 1 December, Santa Claus will be in residence at the magical Santa’s Village in Voyage Arcade, The Mall. Bring your camera and a list of all your Christmas wishes. The Village will be open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 11.00am and 11.30am to 1pm and there will also be fun in the park activities in the air-conditioned comfort of Santa Village.

Other activities include Carols by Candlelight at the Amphitheatre at the Botanic Gardens, Karama Family Fun Fair, Casuarina Christmas Pool Party, Nightcliff Foreshore Tropical Christmas bike ride, City of Darwin Brass Band in The Mall and much more.
