The City of Swan won three awards at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, Western Australian Division (IPWEA WA) Awards for Excellence, held on Friday March 11, 2022.

IPWEA is a prominent national industry body for public works and their annual awards recognise excellence in innovation, development, construction, and management of public works projects.

The City’s Midvale Skate Park was awarded Best Public Works Project under $2 million (metro) and the recently opened Malaga Recycling Centre won Best Public Works Project between $2-5 million (metro).

The City’s Coordinator of Waste Services, Matthew Southern was also named Emerging Young Leader in Western Australia for his excellence, leadership and contribution to the community within the public works field.

City of Swan CEO Jeremy Edwards said he was extremely proud of the City’s achievements.

“To have two projects named Best Public Works is a real credit to our staff’s dedication to delivering outstanding facilities for our community.”

Mr Edwards also noted this is the fourth year in a row that a City of Swan employee has either won or been a finalist for the IPWEA Emerging Young Leader award.

“This is a reflection of the success of the City’s Graduate Engineer Program, which continues to produce outstanding professionals.”
